BBQ Competition

Saturday April 10, 2021 will be the first World Championship Qualifying BBQ Competition ever to be held in Northeast Florida. This event is sanctioned by the Kansas City Barbeque Society (KCBS). The event will consist of two Divisions, a Master Series (Professional) and Backyard (Amateur) Formats.

The Master Series Division requires the teams to cook 4 types of meat:

  • Chicken
  • Pork Ribs
  • Pork Butt
  • Brisket

The Backyard will compete using by cooking 2 meats:

  • Chicken
  • Pork Ribs

Both Divisions will be judged using the KCBS scoring format, which evaluates each entry for presentation, taste and tenderness.

The cooking source at a Master Series Sanctioned Contest shall be of wood, wood pellets, or charcoal. KCBS Rules and regulations apply. Master Series Sanctioned Contests are eligible for the American Royal and the Jack Daniels World Championship. In addition, all KCBS team members who participate in a Master Series Sanctioned Contest earn points towards the KCBS Team of the Year awards held each year at our annual banquet. 

Heroes and Chamber’s Cups

Teams in the Backyard Division will also compete for two ancillary awards. Those Teams that consist of First Responders and/or members of the Armed Services will be eligible for the Heroes Cup, presented by Florida Blue. Additionally, Teams that are representing a JaxChamber Corporate Member, will be eligible for the Chamber’s Cup. The JaxChamber’s Cup is presented by Miller Electric.
